With the recent passing of Michael Jackson, my attention has been brought to the number of truly epic music videos he made. From Thriller to Smooth Criminal to You Rock My World, Mike made his videos full fledged short films.
But Mike wasn’t the only one.
Prince followed in the Beatles footsteps and made full length movies such as Purple Rain, Under The Cherry Moon and Graffitti Bridge that included performances that served as music videos for several of his songs.
While there have been plenty of epic music videos, they are a dying breed. I feel that the only one in the past decade, oddly enough, is R. Kelly’s Trapped In The Closet. It’s a damned shame.
